Oleksandr Usyk vs Murat Gassiev. Fight for WBA, IBF WBC and WBO titles.

Olympiyskiy Arena, MOSCOW, RUSSIA – JULY 21, 2018.

Now Oleksandr Usyk, a former Olympic Champion, holds all major titles after only 15 professional fights
UKRAINIAN boxer beat Russian Murat Gassiev by unanimous decision on Sunday morning, 21 July in Moscow.

Even facing a hostile crowd in Moscow, Usyk fully controlled the fight with his jab to add Gassiev’s WBA and IBF titles to his own WBC and WBO belts.

Just after 15 fights he has become the first fighter in boxing history to hold all WBC, WBA, WBO, IBF and Ring Magazine world cruiserweight world titles.

Gassiev was able to make some heavy body shots when he got inside Usyk’s reach, but started to tire after 7 rounds. Thus the Ukrainian boxer clearly dominated at the end of the fight.

It was Usyk’s third fight in 10 months as part of the World Boxing Super Series, in which he also beat German Marco Huck and WBC champion Mairis Briedis.

Gassiev was unbeaten before that, but his record dropped now to 26-1 with one no contest.
Usyk didn’t lose a single round against his Russian opponent.

His most aggressive round was the final round, where he landed 47 strikes and threw 117 — despite already being unable to lose the fight on the judges’ scorecards heading into the final round.

His performance in this fight and previous wins makes Oleksandr Usyk as a future superstar, according to many boxing specialists.

Belgium came through the quarter-finals by impressively beating Brazil. But in the semi-final game they were unable to score. France deserved to go to the final. They scored the goal and then played well organised to ensure their win.
Defender Samuel Umtiti scored the winning goal for the France in the second half with a towering header from Antoine Griezmann’s corner.

How many saves made Belgian goalkeeper Courtois? Quite a lot. But Hugo Lloris was very reliable as well. Belgium captain Eden Hazard terrified defence line of French team, but still was unable to score.

France have reached their third World Cup final, also doing so in 1998 and 2006. Only Germany (8) and Italy (6) have reached more among European nations. Twenty years ago, France won the World Cup for the first and only time in their history at home in Paris with a 3-0 win over Brazil.

England lost to Croatia at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow in the second semi-final on Wednesday.

Dele Alli and Harry Maguire scored for England to book a semi-final berth after a 2-0 win over Sweden. It was a quarter-final clash on Saturday in Samara. This was England’s first win in a knockout match in a major tournament since beating Ecuador in the Last 16 at the 2006 World Cup.

It’s a great achievement for the English team. Now England will play Croatia in the half final on 11 July in Moscow. England are through to the semi-finals of the World Cup for the first time since 1990.

Dua Lipa performed in Ukraine before the Champions League Final on Saturday evening, May 26.

The London-born singer, 22, took to the pitch before Liverpool played Real Madrid in this year’s final.
Joined by a troop of dancers, Dua opened the show with recent hit single ‘One Kiss,’ before Sean Paul took to the pitch to perform ‘No Lie’. Dua finished her show with ‘Be The One,’ and ‘New Rules.’

So far Dua Lipa won two British music awards.
Dua said about her debut album: “There have been so many pinch myself moments. It kind of happens on a daily basis because there are so many exciting things happening. When I first put my album out that was a very, very big deal for me, to put that body of work out there that I’d been working on for such a long time. I remember winning my award at NME and that was one of the first awards I’d ever won and that recognition and support really meant a lot to me.”

Volvo Ocean Race, start of leg 7 from Auckland, NZ to Itajaí, Brazil.

It was a spectacular start to Leg 7 of the Volvo Ocean Race on Sunday afternoon.

The weather was fine and sunny, the wind was near 20 knots, and as they have for 10 stopovers, the Auckland fans took to the water by the thousands to farewell the fleet. Actually, during of the Auckland stopover over 500,000 fans came through the Race Village at the Viaduct Basin.

The Aucklanders gathered at foiling kite-boards, windsurfers, stand-up paddleboards, kayaks, sailing dinghies, as well as hundreds of power and sail boats, along with the former Whitbread Round the World Race winner, Steinlager 2.

Peter Burling, who brought the America’s Cup to new Zealand last summer and now he is a member of team Brunnel said about this leg: “We’re going into one of the more gruelling legs of the race.” Americas Cup Team New Zealand ace Peter Burling – Helmsman and Trimmer in Team Brunel.

It was MAPFRE, the overall race leader, who made the best start to lead the fleet around a loop of the Waitemata Harbour and out into the Hauraki Gulf. They were chased by Dongfeng, Team Brunel and Turn the Tide on Plastic.

Mitre 10 - very negative shopping experience!

It was the worst shopping experience within my last few years.

The first item which I bought (panel heater) became faulty within 1.5 weeks after the purchase. The digital display shoved anything, except correct figures.

My second purchase still has not delivered although I made it more than 12 days ago. It was delivered to nowhere, thanks to the couriers – ‘New Zealand Couriers’ (nzcouriers.co.nz).

It was dispatched from a shop allocated at 67 Corinthian Drive, Albany, Auckland. Their staff simply refused to track where my order was lost.

The distance from the shop to the delivery place can be driven in 30 minutes, but Mitre 10 unable to deliver my order during 12 days already.

Additionally:
When I am trying to login at Mitre web site, the system says that password isn’t correct, although I am sure that I saved it correct. When trying to reset the password, the system informed that the email was sent to me, but I never received that email (I tried several times to reset the password).

So my overall experience is very negative. It was the worst shopping experience within my last few years.

In the future I will avoid shopping from Mitre 10 as a plague.

Aotea Centre
Auckland
5 January – 6 February

The exhibition contains collection of 80 original pieces by one of the most intriguing and famous street artists in modern history. Banksy, who refrains from revealing his identity and does not appear in public, is a painter, graffiti artist and social activist, considered one of the world’s top political graffiti artists.

Banksy has gained his popularity through a range of urban interventions, from modifying street signs and printing his own currency to illegally hanging his own works in institutions such as the Louvre and the Museum of Modern Art.

The exhibition, curated by the artist’s former manager Steve Lazarides, displays the largest collection of Banksy’s works.
Among the wors – the famous painting of the girl with the red balloon, known as “Girl and Balloon”. Another Banksy’s work “Laugh Now” – a famous graffiti piece that depicts a monkey with a sign hanging from his neck with the words: “Laugh now, but one day we’ll be in charge.”

We show here Banksy’s iconic works as well as his less known paintings.

This is the second article about ‘The Art of Banksy exhibition’. The first article about the exhibition:

The small, delicate white wings on his back sharply contrast the cold, grey helmet and gun, their size hardly strong enough to lift a grown man out of harms way. Similar to the infamous “Rage, Flower Thrower,” the image is reminiscent of photographs taken from the street riots in the Middle East and Soviet Union.

The image, which features some of the main characters from Disney’s ‘The Jungle Book’, was transposed onto a picture of a devastated forest, intended for use on posters, billboards and postcards. While it was printed, it was never put into circulation because of threats by Disney. The original sold for £78,000, 11 January 2011, at Bonhams.

‘Girl With Balloon’ is undoubtedly one of his most iconic works. The original work depicts a young girl losing a heart-shaped balloon to the wind.  The girl is seen standing in front of a gust of wind in black and white. The quote “There Is Always Hope’ that often accompanies the piece seems to hint at the latter.
